“…Lewis projected her own brand of sexy irreverence combined with Jagger-like stage swagger and the volatile air of a young Patti Smith.” - BOSTON HERALDToday Juliette Lewis' Terra Incognita is exclusively streaming for free on Napster and is featured on the popular music site's homepage. Lewis' highly anticipated solo record is slated to be released on September 1st by The End Records and has already won the praise of fans and critics. Produced by the Grammy Award winning Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (The Mars Volta), Terra Incognita easily shifts from punky grooves ("All Is For God") to chiming guitar rock ("Fantasy Bar") and even includes a flashy pop song ("Uh Huh," which Lewis describes as her "make-out jam"). There's a ton of variety in the vocal performances, which leap from growly and rich to vulnerable and subtle. "I wanted to make a record that has full flavor and spectrum. Not the same song 11 times," says Lewis. "Terra Incognita means unknown territory and I wanted – needed – to go there. Not everybody wants to. But I got no one to answer to, so why not feed the muse?" You can catch Lewis' brand of self-experimentation out on the road now with Cat Power and The Pretenders.
