Anneke van Giersbergen - ex-GATHERING singer who now fronts AGUA DE ANNIQUE -- has posted an update about upcoming shows and writing new material.
Van Giersbergen says, "Hi Everybody! Last weekend we have played our very first festival with Agua de Annique! And not just any festival... we played the Noorderslag fest in Groningen Holland. Here's where all 'hip and happening' Dutch bands play in front of an eager audience and many people from the bizzz :-) We were very pleased to be there! And so we are moving on in 2008... We played a very new song called 'My Town' in Groningen and we are prepping a few more to expand our live set.The year started of in a fantastic way when Joris and I were joined by my lovely friend Danny Cavanagh and played the Little Devil Club in Tilburg Holland. We had no time for a proper rehearsal, but there was some magic in the air that night I guess. Thank you to those of you who came to see us, Danny & Joris and also Paul & LD for having us. I have written a bunch of new tunes for the next album already and we will hop into the studio one of these months to make a nice and relaxed start. But first! We'll play the clubs and festivals in Holland and abroad. The Dutch festival season is traditionally opened by the great Paaspop festival and we will be playing there on March 22nd. I am very happy with the start of this new year! Anneke" The band's video for the song 'Day After Yesterday' from the debut album 'Air ' (on THE END RECORDS) can be seen on Youtube.com Click here to watch the video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9Z6Tvd4CtY What the press are saying... "Anneke lets her penchant for alt pop shine with this new project, while maintaining the angelic, yet dark vocal melodies that made her a beacon of light in the European metal scene." - THE SENTIMENTALIST "What we hear on the understated Air is an artist (van Giersbergen) relishing the chance to go her own way...an effortless blend of the adventurous and the accessible." - DECIBEL "...catchy hooks with shimmering arrangements...['Air'] finds Anneke moving towards more aggressive and dramatic territory..." - SEA OF TRANQUILITY "...a very personal record... Anneke has started down a long and adventurous musical road with 'Air'... We'll see where she takes us." - GRINDER "'Air' is a dark and touching affair...a sad, contemplating (with flourishes of the positive, mind you) record that will affect immediately and directly if you let it." - METALLIAN MORE: Official Site: http://aguadeannique.com Official MySpace.com Site: http://www.myspace.com/aguadeannique |
